Lorna McLeod, DVM
Dr. Mcleod earned her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville in 1996 and has practiced in Winston-Salem and the surrounding Triad since 1997.
Dr. McLeod is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and serves as Secretary of the Forsyth County Veterinary Medical Association.
She is also a member of the Animal Association of Feline Practitioners.
She volunteers with Aarf, FFF, TGRR and FCAP. She also enjoys traveling, antiquing, gardening and spending time with family.
Christine Kline, DVM
Medical Director
Animal Health and Wellness Hospital is pleased to announce that Dr. Christine E. Kline has joined our team. A native of New York, she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from Cornell University and her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Tennessee. Dr. Kline brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience from working as an emergency/critical care and relief veterinarian for 17 years at over 100 different veterinary practices. She and her husband, an equine veterinary surgeon, have relocated to Davie County, North Carolina. She is looking forward to spending many years with us at Animal Health and Wellness Hospital.
John Polnak, DVM
Dr. Polnak received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from St. George’s University in Grenada, and completed his clinical year of Veterinary Medicine at Georgia University in Athens, GA. He has special interests in surgery, ultrasound, and acupuncture; and attends several medical and surgical conferences throughout the year to stay on top of the newest techniques so he can offer thorough and compassionate care to each of his patients. Dr. Polnak currently resides in Advance, NC, with his wife and 4 children. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his family, cooking from old family recipes, and exploring what NC has to offer. Dr. Polnak also has a taste for adventure and is scuba certified and loves traveling.
Sarah Bendorf, DVM
Dr. Bendorf is another native Tennessean who moved to the Triad area in 2015. Her greatest love is exotic pet medicine and personally owns several reptiles, parakeets, spiders, invertebrates, axolotls, and 2 cats! Her education includes a B.S. in Animal Science from University of Tennessee at Martin in 2002 and her DVM from University of Tennessee at Knoxville in 2006. Her hobbies include gardening and taking care of her mengerie of pets.
Lane Anderson
Practice Manager
Lane Anderson is from Texas Hook Em Horns where she started her career working with animals on a cattle ranch after graduating high school. She developed an interest in veterinary medicine after reading all of the James Herriot books when she was young. Lane enjoys reading, cooking, relaxing and fishing at the coast when she has time.
Bethany Avery
Assistant Manager
Bethany is a 15 year veteran of the animal health industry. She has been taking care of the pets of Animal Health and Wellness for 6 years. A native from Winston-Salem, she enjoys spending time with her two beautiful kids. She also shares her home with 2 dogs, Lettie and Yoda, and Pete the cat.
Jacob Blake
Hospital Assistant
Jacob has joined our team as an assistant to our veterinary nurses. He enjoys music, video games, and mixed martial arts in his spare time, although his favorite hobby is playing with his dog “Brodie”.
Allyson Musick
Vet Assistant
Allyson is a true Winston-Salem native. She has lived here her whole life except when she attended UNC Wilmington and received her B.S. in Biology and Marine Biology. When she is not working as a veterinary nurse, she enjoys cooking, gardening, painting and video games.
Samantha Fritts
Vet Assistant
Samantha is our true outdoor enthusiast. She lives on a farm with chickens and cows and enjoys hunting with her dad. On Saturdays you will find her angelic voice as part of her church choir.
Hailey Bowman
Vet Assistant
Veterinary medicine has been a passion for Hailey since she was a little girl growing up in Mount Airy, NC. She has been working in the veterinary field for 6 years. Hailey is currently enrolled at Surry Community College and scheduled to receive her Master’s Degree in Science in 2025. When not studying, she likes to hike and spend time with her nieces. Hailey loves to take care of our young patients since she has a young puppy and kittens at home.
Daisy Sullivan
Vet Assistant
Daisy is our resident scholar! She has a BS in Biochemistry from Berea College in Kentucky and a Master’s degree from University of Florida in Veterinary Forensics. She has a wide variety of interests including hiking, drawing, being a foodie, and spending time with family, friends, and her three dogs Cash, Squirt, and Leila. She is always a calm and upbeat friend for your fur babies!
Emma Fritts
Vet Assistant
Emma has been working in the veterinary field for a little over a year. She brings a bright attitude and sense of humor to our day here at the hospital. At home, she cares for her rescue Pitbull Luna and her cat Dale. Her goals for free time are riding motorcycles with friends and visiting every aquarium in the US. Good luck Emma!
Michelle Rolley
Receptionist
Michelle joined Animal Health and Wellness Hospital in 2018, bringing with her 25 years of experience with animals both large and small. She earned her bachelor’s degree in equine science from Virginia Intermont College in Bristol and maintains a lifelong passion for pet care. Her other interests include riding her motorcycle through the Forsythe countryside, collecting antiques, and helping the homeless.
Robert Anders
Groundskeeper and Maintenance
We don’t know what we would do without Robert here at Animal Health and Wellness Hospital. He has been with us since the very beginning helping to keep the place going. Born and raised right here in Rural Hall, he lives with his wife and spoiled Shih Tzu. Give him a wave next time you see him!
Marko
Mascot, Stud
We are honored here at Animal Health and Wellness Hospital to live in Marko’s world. Since he came to us a few months after we opened in 2013, he has become a fixture here and even has his own Facebook page. His demands are simple- canned food and catnip. Sorry ladies, he is taken- he only has eyes for his roommate, Miso.
